About This Program

In moments of rupture, transformation begins. This collection of films explores characters suspended in emotional, physical, or political limbo — each navigating personal crisis, collective trauma, or dystopian change. From the quiet intimacy of family sacrifice to nocturnal journeys through memory and city streets, from fractured vision to portals into parallel worlds, these stories invite us to question what must be broken for something new to emerge. Through pain, longing, resistance, and revelation, they search for release — and the possibility of seeing again.

Featured Films

Reliefs

Reliefs

Directed by Juan Manuel González • 17 minutes • 2025

Mexico - Venezuela • Fiction

Canadian Premiere

Carlos is approaching midlife trapped in a personal crisis that has lingered too long. Rosa, his mother, suffers from disabling pain that is only mitigated by the warm waters of hydrotherapy. One night, she offers to make the ultimate sacrifice so that they can both transit to a better place. A short film about love, hope and relief we all long for.

Broken Eyes

Broken Eyes

Directed by Gabriela Golder • 29 minutes • 2024

Argentina • Documentary

Ontario Premiere

Broken Eyes is built from various sources: archival images, testimonies of victims of mutilation, performances, texts collected from slogans chanted in popular demonstrations in different regions of the world, military and scientific texts. The movements of the bodies, the gazes interpellate. Laser pointers cross the air, they are resistance actions. Everything is extinguished. But the eyes insist, they recover the spaces, the bodies, the eyes return, they are restituted. Is it possible to restore the gaze? Is it possible for the eyes to take their place again? Is it possible for them to revolt and do justice?

The Girl and the Pot
